Happy March! Spring is right around the corner, but March has a few more astrological hurdles in store before we can make a break from the harsh winter blues. The first is a good, old Mercury retrograde beginning on March 6th. Remember that during a Mercury retrograde, technology often goes haywire and communication, both written and verbal, becomes a bit murky. Back up your smart phones and carefully proofread all outgoing emails at the beginning of the month. Uranus will also be changing signs, joining Mars. Be prepared for the unexpected and use that Mars energy to roll up your sleeves and get to work on whatever new projects are thrown your way. You’ve got this! Luckily, Venus will also be moving signs this month, helping to smooth over miscommunications and other sticky situations.

Pisces (February 19-March 20)

Venus moves into your 12th house of behind the scenes projects on March 2nd. Spend some quality time in the practice room playing through old favorites. You may discover something new and interesting that you had not heard before.

Mercury goes retrograde in your sign on March 6th. Be careful when sending emails to your colleagues as Mercury will likely muddle even the most basic of communications (particularly when technology is involved). Venus moves into your 11th house of groups and communities on March 2nd. This is a good placement to have prior to the Mercury retrograde as Venus will smooth over any impending miscommunications with the other musicians in your performing groups. You will be popular during this time so all will be forgiven.

Mercury goes retrograde in your 12th house of behind the scenes projects on March 6th. You may find yourself locked in the practice room trying to straighten out a tricky technical passage or two. Try to remain patient and commit to slow practice with a metronome.

Uranus changes signs on March 6th, joining Mars in your 2nd house of communication. When Uranus moves into your 2nd house, you may find your email inbox raging out of control. Everybody seems to need you for one thing or another. Use the Mars energy to prioritize the most important requests first (gigs, students, rehearsals, etc.).

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Venus moves into your 10th house of career goals on March 2nd.  You are beginning to reconsider your career goals at the beginning of the month. What do you truly value? What parts of your career do you love (teaching, performing, etc.)? How can you bring more of what you enjoy into your daily life?

Mercury goes retrograde in your 11th house of groups and communities on March 6th. Get ready to pack in some extra, unplanned rehearsals during this retrograde. A technical passage is just not coming together in one of your ensembles and you may all need some slow practice with a metronome to iron it out.

Proofread all outgoing emails and be a bit more patient with the other members of your flute section. Wires will likely get crossed.

Be sure to triple check all outgoing emails and be very careful with the “reply all” option. Keep communications with your conductor brief and clear. Mercury often likes to create mountains out of molehills.

It will seem as if everything you say, write, and do are misinterpreted by others. Be very careful during this time to be clear and brief with your communications. If possible, try to avoid publishing writing projects until the Mercury retrograde is over.

Venus moves into your 1st house of identity on March 2nd. This is by far the best time of the year to host a recital. You are the Beyoncé flute diva of the moment. All eyes are on you! Program a number of crowd pleasers on this program. You will be the talk of the town.

Mercury goes retrograde in your 2nd house of income on March 6th. Mercury retrograde may kick up a few money issues this month, Aquarius, particularly if they have anything to do with technology. Double check that any direct deposit transactions are set up correctly. Update any addresses for check deposits. If possible, pay your bills for the month prior to the Mercury retrograde to avoid unexpected late payments.

Uranus changes signs on March 6th, joining Mars in your 4th house of home and family. There will be unexpected changes to your home or family when Uranus changes signs. You could be moving to a new house or relocating your studio across town. Mars will help give you the stamina to move furniture and load your sheet music collection in to moving boxes.
