Đive Franetović Kušelj Artist Interview

Đive Franetović Kušelj received her first musical education at the Luka Sorkočević Art School in Dubrovnik. After graduating from the Gimnazija Dubrovnik High School and the Luka Sorkočević Art School, she entered the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb, where she graduated and received her master's degree in the class of professor Marina Novak. Đive is a soloist, chamber music and orchestra musician and professor of flute and chamber music. She loves her hometown Dubrovnik and always promotes it as well as her homeland Croatia.


 

Career highlights:
- Concert in Carnegie hall on 24th birthday (03-03-03)
- Promoting and playing Croatian composers at the Florida State University, Emory University in Atlanta, Southern Illinois University and at National Flute Convention in San Diego
- Maestro Marcello Abbado's Concerto for flute and orchestra which is dedicate to her and his world premiere with San Remo Symphony Orchestra
- Concert at Julian Rachlin&Friends International Festival at Rectors Palace in Dubrovnik with renowned musicians and with narrator Sir Roger Moore
- Playing in her hometown Dubrovnik many concerts with Quartet Sorkočević, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Dubrovnik Summer Festival and teaching in Art School Luka Sorkočević

 

 Advice for young flutists:
1. LIVE and LOVE for music
2. Be ready for a lot of PRACTICING, PATIENCE and FAITH in yourself
3. ENJOY playing and always play with sincere love that comes from the heart
