Happy November and welcome to Scorpio season! This will be a Scorpio season like none other as the Universe will finally be giving the green light to move forward on things that have been stalled or unclear during the October retrogrades. Scorpios value truth and often act with calculated intent. Secrets will be revealed this month and plans that were previously only discussed in hypothetical terms will be set in action. If you have felt as if you have been running in place, or practicing scales mindlessly to pass the time, November will help you regain the momentum needed to achieve your most important goals.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

November 3rd – Mercury goes direct in your 12th house of behind the scenes activities, joining Venus. Something that hasn’t been making any sense in the practice room will suddenly click when Mercury goes direct. Share your sudden insights on your flute blog!

November 10th – Mercury moves into your 1st house of identity, joining the Sun. This will be a great time to communicate what you want, what you need, and where you want to go. Be honest about who you are as a performer. Sit down with a career coach and talk honestly about your goals. Are you happy on your current trajectory?

November 13th – Mars goes direct in your 6th house of daily work and health routines. You may have felt a bit stuck at work lately. While Mars was retrograde, you may have found yourself researching and completing a lot of behind the scenes work. When it goes direct, you will want to perform, perform, perform! Give lectures. Host videos. Do. All. Of. The. Things.

November 15th – New Moon in your 1st house of identity. This is a great time to be a Scorpio! The New Moon will help you reinvent yourself and your flute playing from the ground up. Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)

November 3rd – Mercury goes direct in your 11th house of groups and communities, joining Venus. Any misunderstandings you have had with members of your flute section or chamber group will be ironed out when Mercury goes direct. Clear the air! This is also a good time to work on intonation, transitions, and both musical and non-musical cues.

November 10th – Mercury moves into your 12th house of behind the scenes activities, joining the Sun. Practice all of the things when Mercury moves into your 12th house. Share any insights you have on your flute blog. What practice techniques are working for you? What repertoire and methods do you recommend?

November 13th – Mars goes direct in your 5th house of creativity and joy. You may have been researching a creative project (such as a composition or a lecturer recital). November 30th – A Lunar Eclipse appears in your 7th house of relationships. Do a bit of soul searching when it comes to a toxic relationship with a colleague or a very difficult student. Something needs to change in this relationship. Have a heart-to-heart and express your honest opinions. If a compromise cannot be made, it may be time to move on and work with other people.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19)

November 3rd – Mercury goes direct in your 10th house of career goals, joining Venus. This is a great time to schedule interviews or participate in auditions. You have had a few weeks to reprioritize your career goals and now have a better understanding about the direction you would like to take, When Mercury goes direct, you may finally start taking those carefully laid action plans.

What changes will you need to make to your current rehearsal spaces to allow for socially distant practice sessions?

November 13th – Mars goes direct in your 4th house of home and family. This is a great time to make any home and/or studio renovations. Does your current home office space work for you to teach virtually? Do you need to update your equipment? How is your background (cluttered, calming, etc.)? Invest in anything to spruce up your environment.

November 15th – New Moon in your 11th house of groups and communities. You may be auditioning for a new orchestra or subbing for a local group. This opportunity will open up a number of doors for you in your career. Make the most out of this new gig.

November 21st – Venus moves into your 11th house of groups and communities. You will be quite popular in your current performing groups. Enjoy this diva moment! Your playing is on point and others are taking notice of your unique skills.

November 21st – The Sun moves into your 12th house of behind the scenes activities. You will be spending a lot of time in the practice room when the Sun changes signs. Is there a concerto competition around the corner? Starting prepping now.

November 30th – A Lunar Eclipse appears in your 6th house of daily work and health routines. Take a critical look at your daily schedule at the end of the month. Are you struggling to find the time check off everything on your to-do list? Are you getting enough time to practice? To sleep? To exercise? What can you remove or redelegate?

Aquarius (January 20-February 18)

November 3rd – Mercury goes direct in your 9th house of travel and higher education, joining Venus. Any trips you had been planning can finally be booked or taken when Mercury goes direct. If travel restrictions still have you otherwise grounded, this could also be a good time to investigate educational programs. Have you always wanted to learn a second instrument? November 10th – Mercury moves into your 10th house of career goals, joining the Sun. Use this time to schedule a meeting with a career counselor or a professional flutist that you admire. What do you need to do to get from where you are in your career as a performer to where you would really like to go (performing principal flute in the LA Phil). What types of skills do you still need to master? What experiences still lay ahead of you?

November 13th – Mars goes direct in your 3rd house of communication. Do you have a flute blog or a YouTube channel? If not, this is the perfect time to start one. You have a lot to say about flute playing and a lot of flute playing to share with the World. Hop online and share your gifts!

November 15th – New Moon in your 10th house of career goals. Chances are that this New Moon will present a new job opportunity to you that is mysteriously and magically in line with your career goals. Jump on this opportunity as it will open a number of doors for you.

November 21st – Venus moves into your 10th house of career goals. You will be quite popular (aka Flute Diva/Divo extraordinaire) when Venus enters your 10th house. If possible, try to schedule interviews and auditions around this date as Venus will help dazzle your hiring committees.

November 21st – The Sun moves into your 11th house of groups and communities. Your focus will shift onto performing groups when the Sun moves signs. Did you just commit to participating in another orchestra? Congrats! You will be busy during this time, but it will also be your turn to shine.

November 30th – A Lunar Eclipse appears in your 5th house of creativity and joy. It is okay to admit that you no longer have time to work on a creative project that may have gone dormant. Pisces (February 19-March 20)

Although travel may not be in the cards right now, you may begin putting together your application and project scope.

Are you spending too much time away from home? How can you reprioritize your work responsibilities to spend more quality time with your family?

Aries (March 21-April 19)

November 3rd – Mercury goes direct in your 7th house of relationships, joining Venus. You may have had a number of miscommunications with the others in your life (both personally and professionally) during the Mercury retrograde. When Mercury goes direct, sit down with these individuals and clear the air. This is a great time to schedule any interviews, auditions, or to finally have that chat with your boss about a possible pay increase. I know all of these things are scary, but Mercury will help you make your case clearly and effectively. You deserve this promotion!

November 10th – Mercury moves into your 3rd house of communication, joining the Sun. Mercury will help inspire you to write that book or article that you were conceptualizing last month. Do you have great advice about practice techniques? Is there an obscure composer that you really admire? What are your thoughts on performing remotely? Start writing!

November 13th – Mars goes direct in your 8th house of banking and finances. Mars will help you trim your bills and start saving. You have a clear goal in mind (perhaps the purchase of a new flute) and you already know it will not be easy. Use this time to cut out services you no longer need, negotiate larger bills with more flexible companies, create a stricter budget, and set up automatic savings deductions. How much will you need to save to purchase a new flute by next year?

November 15th – New Moon in your 3rd house of communications. You will likely be wrapping up an article and starting on a new piece of writing around the time of this New Moon. You have so many great ideas! Try out some of your more out-there thoughts on your flute blog before turning them into full-fledged articles. Reach out to flutists you admire and ask your most burning flute-related questions. Most experts are not as scary as we make them in our heads.

November 15th – New Moon in your 2nd house of income. You may be offered a job around the time of the New Moon. This is a great opportunity that you will not want to pass up. How does this fit into your larger career ambitions?

November 21st – Venus moves into your 2nd house of income. You will attract more money and abundance when Venus moves signs. Gigs and new students will likely come in during this time. Try not to spend all of your money in one place (Venus is a shopaholic).

November 21st – The Sun moves into your 3rd house of communication. Your focus will shift onto writing projects when the Sun changes signs. Do you have a great idea for an article about finding performance opportunities in the virtual world? Do you have a recommended set of exercises to work on articulation or improve intonation? Write about it!

November 30th – A Lunar Eclipse appears in your 9th house of travel and higher education. A trip you were hoping to take will likely be postponed or canceled during this Lunar Eclipse. Do not panic. Remain flexible and find a creative way to reschedule your trip on a more realistic timeline. What can you add to your itinerary to make your adventure even better than original?
