Happy July! The big news this month is that Venus will be going retrograde. Venus is
the planet of love and joy and all of life’s warm fuzzies. When Venus goes retrograde,
we are often confronted with people from our past. Sometimes they reach out wanting
to collaborate on fun new projects. Other times they appear simply as memories,
reminding us of the good times that helped transform us into the awesome musicians
we are. If it is closure you need from someone, Venus will help get you there. If you
need to breathe new life into an old relationship, Venus will also help get you there. If
you just want to be nostalgic for the good old days, Venus will take you back in time.
Follow the direction that the Venus retrograde wants to take you this month to reconnect
to your heart, your soul, and your love of the flute.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 7th house of relationships. This Full Moon
will ask you to confront a toxic relationship in your environment. This will need to
change moving forward. If this is a student, clarify all practice expectations and set
clear, achievable goals for the upcoming year.
July 10th - Mars moves into your 3rd house of communication. Mars will help you
set up meetings with everyone you need to confront (in healthy ways, of course). Make
a list of all the wants and needs in your flute career. Who can help you achieve some of
these goals? Reach out to them and collaborate.
July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 2nd house of income. This is a great time
to make a case for yourself to your supervisor or conductor. You are ready for a new
challenge, and the increase in income that comes with added responsibilities. Show
them you are ready to be their star!
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 1st house of identity. This New Moon will
help you attract a very important new flute opportunity. This is something you have been
building towards for a while. Just say yes - No matter what it is. Figure out the details
later.
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 2nd house of income. Venus will ask
you to reexamine your job. Are you doing the things that make you happy? Are you
taking advantage of opportunities to shine on the things you know you are super good
at? If not, make a new plan.
July 22nd - The Sun moves into your 2nd house of income. Your focus will shift
onto your job when the Sun moves signs. You are not happy with your paycheck at the
moment. Are there other ways to find side gigs or passive income? Explore your
options.
July 28th - Mercury moves into your 3rd house of communication. When the house
of communication pairs up with the planet of communication, it is time to write, write,
write, and then write some more. Do you have a flute blog yet? This is the perfect time
to start one! Start brainstorming a few introductory posts.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 6th house of daily work and health
routines. Something in your daily schedule needs to change or possibly even end
around the time of this Full Moon. You are always too busy these days. What
obligations or rehearsals can you delegate to other deserving flutists?
July 10th - Mars moves into your 2nd house of income. Mars wants you to pursue
new job opportunities. Hit those audition boards! Now is your time to pursue something
bigger, brighter, and better!
July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 1st house of identity. Mercury wants you to
finally ask for exactly what you want. This should be no problem for a Leo! What do you
want most out of flute life? A new flute? Buy it! A new gig? Audition!
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 12th house of behind-the-scenes
activities. This New Moon will encourage you to practice new repertoire for your next
recital. Practice all of the things! Take a deep dive into cool new repertoire or
reimagined old favorites. You might find the perfect addition to your lineup.
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 1st house of identity. The Venus
Retrograde will ask you to consider all of your goals. Revisit your New Years’
Resolution list. Are these truly goals that you’d like to accomplish or are you trying to
accomplish them to satisfy somebody else? Be true to yourself!
July 22nd - The Sun moves into your 1st house of identity. Your focus will shift onto
your most important goals when it moves signs. Create a mid-year’s list of resolutions.
Start fresh! Restating your goals is not only reserved for the beginning of each year.
July 28th - Mercury moves into your 2nd house of income. This is a great time to
revamp your CV and update your website. How long has it been since you added all of
your latest and greatest accomplishments? Add a teaching philosophy and a repertoire
list!
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 5th house of creativity and joy. A creative
project you have been working on may be stalled around the time of this Full Moon.
Were you thinking too broad when you originally designed your project? Take a step
back and edit your work. Where can you streamline?
July 10th - Mars moves into your 1st house of identity. Mars is not going to let you
procrastinate any more. Time to prep for that recital or masterclasses! Think bigger and
do more! Can you convert your recital into a string of other performances elsewhere?

July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 12th house of behind-the-scenes
activities. This is a great time to discuss some of your best kept practice secrets on a
blog, podcast, or any other social media platform. You’ve got a lot of really great
techniques that will resonate with students far and wide.
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 11th house of groups and communities.
This New Moon will bring a new performing group into your life. You may receive a call
out of nowhere to sub for a local orchestra. Take it! This little sub gig may open many
doors in the near future.
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 12th house of behind-the-scenes
activities. This Venus Retrograde will ask you to revisit some old favorites. Pull up
those pieces that hold a special place in your heart or memory. Reimagine something
new in an old school work.
July 22nd - The Sun moves into your 12th house of behind-the-scenes activities.
Your focus will shift onto the practice room when the Sun moves signs. Practice all of
the things during this time. Sight-read a few interesting new works. Peruse etude books
that have been on the periphery of your repertoire list. Read through a few interesting
transcriptions of violin or cello works.
July 28th - Mercury moves into your 1st house of identity. Mercury will encourage
you to write about some of your most important goals. This is a great time to write a
blog (original or as a guest on another blogging platform) about a flute topic that you
find super interesting. This could be a biographical piece or a piece about being an
entrepreneurial flutist.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 4th house of home and family. Something in
your environment needs some serious repairs or upgrades. You might find that your
favorite home desk or bookshelf suddenly collapses around the time of this Full Moon.
Replace it with something shiny, new, sturdy, and much more suited to your home
studio space.
July 10th - Mars moves into your 12th house of behind-the-scenes activities. Mars
will send you to the practice room when it moves signs. Practice literally all of the things.
Revisit that scary Anderson method book that you have been ignoring for, well, decades
(in some circumstances). Practice those super cool pieces you heard at a recent
masterclass. If you like it, program it. If not, move on to the next option.
July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 11th house of groups and communities.
This is a great time to host a sectional or studio masterclass. You are super charming
and helpful with this combo in your 11th house. Use your gifts to help your colleagues
and students improve their playing.
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 10th house of career goals. This New
Moon will bring in an important new job opportunity. Audition to an orchestra (or two)
around this time and apply to any jobs that seem to pop up out of nowhere. The
Universe will show you a new path if you pay attention to the signs around you.
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 11th house of groups and
communities. This Venus Retrograde will ask you some tough questions about the
ensembles that you perform with. Are you happy with your current groups? Do you need
a bigger challenge with roles that suit your playing more? What opportunities are out
there for you?
July 22nd - The Sun moves into your 11th house of groups and communities.
Audition for the sub list with your local symphony orchestra. This is a great way to try
out a group if the need arises without a longer-term commitment. You will meet new
musicians around your community who may be searching for collaborative opportunities
with a flutist such as yourself.
July 28th - Mercury moves into your 12th house of behind-the-scenes activities.
Mercury will encourage you to share some of your best kept practice secrets on a
blogging or video platform. What approaches do you find work best in your own routine
and in the routine of your students? Write about it!
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 3rd house of communication. Are you
working on a book or article and finding yourself a bit stuck? This Full Moon will
challenge you to outsource some of your pain points. Can you send your work to an
outside editor? Can you hire a student to work on the formatting or help you streamline
some of your ideas? Stop stressing and utilize your network.
July 10th - Mars moves into your 11th house of groups and communities. Mars will
have you jumping from one rehearsal to another. Make sure not to burnout by giving
yourself more than enough time to get from one venue to the next. Remember to
practice your music on your off-time rather than cram practicing before rehearsal.
July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 10th house of career goals. This is a great
time to meet with a trusted advisor or mentor to discuss your career goals. Are you on
track with your short and long-term plans? If not, it is not too late to change direction!
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 9th house of travel and higher education.
The New Moon wants you to take an adventure! Hop on a plane and go somewhere
beautiful, relaxing, and totally outside your norm. Yes, Scorpio - Be spontaneous!
Totally against your nature, yes, but the Moon doesn’t care about what is comfortable.
The Moon demands that you expand your horizons.
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 10th house of career goals. The Venus
Retrograde will ask you some tough questions about what you want to be when you
grow up (even if you are already grown up). Examine your career goals, both short and
long term. Do your goals make you happy? Are you creating a flute career that makes
your heart sing or are you just doing what someone else told you to do at some point?

shift onto your career goals when the Sun moves signs. You have gained some
newfound clarity on your most important ambitions thanks to the Venus Retrograde and
are ready to compile a list of action plans moving forward.
July 28th - Mercury moves into your 11th house of groups and communities. This
is a great time to host a studio masterclass. Mercury will help you communicate very
clearly to your students. Strive to make mini-lessons accessible to a number of different
types of learners.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 2nd house of income. This Full Moon will
ask you to make major changes at your job. You may even be inspired to look for other
job opportunities. Follow this nudge as there may be bigger and better opportunities just
around the corner.
July 10th - Mars moves into your 10th house of career goals. Mars is not going to
let you procrastinate anymore when it comes to your flute career. Take out a paper and
pen and devise a set of goals outlining where you’d like to be one year from now, five
years from now, 10 years from now, and what your ultimate flute dream career is. Now
that you have a plan, start devising the next best steps.
July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 9th house of travel and higher education.
This is a good time to book any summer music conference travel. It may be a bit pricey
at times, but the information and experience you will gain from showing up to these
events is quite priceless. Make new friends. Take notes. And have a great time.
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 8th house of banking and finance. This
New Moon will encourage you to finally create a savings plan for the purchase of a new
instrument, or an important upgrade to your current instrument. What is a reasonable
budget for an upgrade and how long will it take you to save up the money?
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 9th house of travel and higher
education. The Venus Retrograde will encourage you to connect with past teachers
and, if you still have them, consult with old notes from previous applied teachers. There
may be some gems that you have forgotten about.
July 22nd - The Sun moves into your 9th house of travel and higher education.
Your focus will shift onto Summer vacays when the Sun moves signs. Leave your flute
at home for a weekend and head to the beach. Relax and enjoy the Summer sun!
July 28th - Mercury moves into your 10th house of career goals. Mercury wants
you to get super organized about your career. What are your top three most important
goals? What are the first three steps you can take to make measurable progress on
these goals?
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 1st house of identity. This Full Moon will ask
you to be very honest about one of your most important goals. You may be approaching
a recital date that you are not yet ready for. Can you edit your program to remove the
pieces causing you the most stress? Can you postpone? Explore your options.
July 10th - Mars moves into your 9th house of travel and higher education. Mars
wants you to take an adventure abroad. Look into travel grants to exciting places. Can
you craft a research project around these sites?
July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 8th house of banking and finance. Mercury
and Venus will be working together to devise a savings plan for a major purchase. You

in a different area. What are your options?

put more money towards a new flute or house?

practice room. It’s just not coming together and you may have lost interest and
motivation to make it work. Not to worry - Revisit at a later time. For now, move on to

always like to be in the money house, but he is good about enacting a savings plan or
finally putting plans in progress for passive income streams. Do you have a great idea
for a pre-recorded class that you could sell on your website? Start brainstorming ways

Venus will encourage you to set up coffee dates (virtual or otherwise) with your favorite

everything in between. Use this super productive energy to pack in extra practice and
workout sessions.

performance, a composition, or an interactive flute-related workshop, Mercury will

trip you had planned may be postponed or canceled around the time of this Full Moon.
Try not to panic! Instead, plan a bigger and better trip at a future date (when tourist
season is over).

everybody’s free time.
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 3rd house of communication. You may
begin working on a new book or article project around the time of this New Moon.
Gather your courage and submit your work for publication to your favorite journal. The
worst they can say is no.
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 4th house of home and family. Go
through a few photo albums with your loved one when Venus goes retrograde. You
need to take a feel-good stroll down memory lane. Are there any photos of past
concerts that you’d like to frame for your studio space?
July 22nd - The Sun moves into your 4th house of home and family. Your focus will
be on reinventing your environment when the Sun moves signs. Update your home
studio space with new technology, updated furniture, and inspirational pieces of art.
July 28th - Mercury moves into your 5th house of creativity and joy. Use this
energy to run some of your wildest creative ideas by one of your trusted flute colleagues
or advisors. You might just need to talk this one out! Hash out the details with a fixed
sign friend. They will help you formulate a plan.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
July 3rd - A Full Moon appears in your 8th house of banking and finance. You may
be making the final payment on a loan for financing arrangement. Congratulations! That
flute you purchased months ago is now officially yours! Do something special to
commemorate this financial achievement.
July 10th - Mars moves into your 4th house of home and family. This is a great time
to tackle some of your home studio renovation projects. Clean out that super messy
sheet music archive. How much of your music can you digitize? In what other ways can
you streamline your studio clutter?
July 11th - Mercury joins Venus in your 3rd house of communication. Write, write,
and then write some more when the planet of communication enters the house of
communication. Do you have a great idea for a book? Starting outlining a series of
chapters and the basic premise of each section.
July 17th - A New Moon appears in your 2nd house of income. You may be offered
a new job around the time of this New Moon. Congratulations! You have won the
audition! Try to prepare as much as possible for your transition to this new role.
July 22nd - Venus goes retrograde in your 3rd house of communication. This is a
great time to do some serious proof-reading on any writing projects you are working on.

time to have a family meeting. Iron out schedules and plan for a few fun outings in the
coming months. Are there any great concerts in the park you could attend together?
